Auschwitz Birkenau is a place where Nazis created the biggest concentration and death camp . During the war about 1,1 million people were killed in this place, mostly Jews from different European countries. The name Auschwitz is a german version of the town Oswiecim in polish. Auschwitz was liberated in January 1945 by Soviet’s army. Auschwitz – Birkenau is listed at UNESCO Heritage Site
This concentration camp was divided into 3 parts: KL Auschwitz (Auschwitz I), Birkenau camp (Auschwitz II) and Monowitz. Nowadays it is possible to visit 2 parts – Auschwitz and Birkenau. It is possible to see approximately 150 original buildings and barracks, 300 ruins fences, towers, roads and railway ramps. This tour is not recommended for the teenagers under 16 years old.
